Key Schorndorf Site Information

Catalent’s Schorndorf site is the European flagship for solid dosage forms and a leader in the pharmaceutical industry for formulation development, manufacturing and distribution of investigational medicinal products for clinical trials, commercial manufacturing and packaging of solid dosage forms. Our dosing and packaging technology enables us to provide reliable drug supply for clinical trials and patients worldwide.

Our services in PPD are oral solid formulation development, full related analytical support, up-scaling and transfer as well as reliable commercial manufacturing and packaging of large-scale reliable supply of complex controlled release oral solid dose forms and related life cycle management. Our manufacturing technology offering consists of dispensing, blending, compaction (dry granulation), high shear and fluid bed granulation, tableting, coating, extrusion/ sheronization, Wurster coating and hard capsule filling. Our packaging technology offerings are supported by blister technology, highly flexible Stick Pack solutions and fully integrated Bottle lines. In-line and Off-line Serialization in accordance with national and international requirements are integrated.

CD&S stands for offering a full range of end-to-end clinical supply services including label printing & check, packaging design, primary packaging activities such as capsule filling, blistering and bottle filling and all kinds of semi-automatic & automatic secondary packaging and labeling activities for ambient, refrigerated and frozen materials. We also offer specialist services for the handling of controlled drugs, gene therapy materials, and packaging over dry ice. Finally, we are distributing clinical trial materials from Catalent Schorndorf to clinical sites around the globe to serve patients on behalf of our clients.

SECURITY

  • Visitors must register each day with security and sign out at the end of the day.
  • Please identify yourself with your identity card or driver license upon arrival.
  • Wear the visitor’s name tag or contractor badge at all times while on plant property.
  • Please park in visitor-designated parking areas.
  • All vehicles and articles are subject to inspection.
  • No photography is allowed without approval from your host; pictures must be taken by Catalent employees and approved by Catalent management.
  • Normal Catalent visiting hours are 8AM – 5PM; other times should be discussed and agreed with the host.
  • Observation / discussions of processes are limited to client sponsored activities. Catalent SOPs can only be observed/read under Catalent supervision.
  • Use of copy machines by visitors is generally not allowed, Catalent will make copies for you as requested.
  • Cell phones are only allowed in the office/common areas.
  • Visitors may use their own computer and will have access to Catalent’s wireless network; password can be obtained from host.
  • Weapons are strictly prohibited on plant property and include privately owned firearms.

SAFETY & EMERGENCY

Catalent is committed to providing a safe and secure work environment. Your awareness and cooperation are requested to ensure that you have a safe visit. Catalent operates production and laboratory operations which may include heavy machinery, laboratory operations and hazardous chemicals. As such, it is required that you remain with your host and follow all safety rules while at the site.

These rules will vary depending on the scope and purpose of the visit and can differ based on the areas that you will be visiting. Depending on your activity additional safety rules and training may apply and will be provided by your host when you arrive on site.

General Areas

  • In the event of an emergency or fire alarm immediately evacuate the building and report to the nearest muster area as directed by your host.
  • Smoking is only permitted in designated areas.
  • Please obey all safety signs and requirements as outlined by your host.
  • Please report all incidents to your host immediately.
  • Hold handrails when walking up or down stairways.
  • Know the location of the nearest emergency exit. Signs are posted prominently across all areas of the facility.
  • Please register when you leave the building for any reason.
  • Call reception in the event you become separated from your host or need immediate assistance; ext. 123 can be dialed from any land line phone at the facility to reach reception.

Production/Laboratory

  • No food or drinks are allowed in production areas.
  • In the laboratory safety glasses and lab coats are required and will be provided. Alternatively, you may bring your own.
  • No open toed shoes are allowed. Please refrain from wearing shoes with high heels if you plan to enter the production or laboratory areas.
  • Safety shoes may be required in designated areas such as the warehouse area. Additional gowning and/or training may be required to enter production areas. Based on your planned activities, please ask your host if additional measures are required.
  • If you plan to enter into production areas, jewelry, (with the exception of one wedding band without gemstones) is prohibited. You will be asked to remove jewelry prior to entering into production areas.

GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICES (GMP)

  • The Pharmaceutical facility adheres to regulatory requirements under Federal Law for Good Manufacturing Process (GMP).
  • Visitors are accompanied at all times within the facility. You will be provided with personal protective gowning requirements relevant to the areas visited during your stay. Jewelry will need to be removed prior to entering GMP Production areas.
  • For safety, footwear should be closed toe and with a low heel.

SIGNS & WARNINGS

  • Please be aware of displayed warning/personal protection signs and adhere to instruction issued by Catalent staff.
  • Follow all posted signage relating to COVID-19, i.e., wearing masks, social-distancing, handwashing, etc.
  • Do not enter restricted areas or touch any product, materials, machinery controls or equipment, unless authorized to do so by a Catalent employee.

IT

  • Catalent offers wireless internet access for our guest. Please ask your host for instruction on access.
  • Catalent provides guest printing services. Please contact reception for instructions at Ext. 123.
